SEIA and PwC Germany Announce Cooperation on International Trade

5 Oct 2026 ·

SEIA is pleased to announce a new cooperation with PwC Germany, bringing together SEIA's data driven approach to trade compliance risk assessment to support PwC's advisory expertise in helping clients navigate complex regulatory environments.

Under this cooperation, SEIA will be a trusted partner of PwC Germany's Customs, Excise and International Trade practice, rolling out to other countries in the future.

Where trade compliance has traditionally relied on periodic reviews and manual checks, SEIA's approach draws on advanced data analytics to provide data driven risk assessments and ongoing monitoring, giving PwC's advisory teams a clearer and more current picture of where exposure exists and how it is evolving.

As businesses become more digitized and the underlying data more complex, many advisory firms have been slow change the way they are working, especially in areas of risk assurance. Erika Trujillo, Co-Founder and Managing Director of SEIA says, “We are proud to work together with the team at PwC Germany, as they have demonstrted a consistent willingness to look ahead, to question traditional methods, and to bring in the tools and partners best suited to serve their clients needs first.”

SEIA’s insights serve as the foundation for what PwC does best: translating risk into action. With SEIA's monitoring providing a real time view of the compliance landscape, PwC Germany's advisors are positioned to design mitigation strategies that are both effective and efficient, allocating resources where they matter most rather than just following a checklist. In addition, together with PWC clients can monitor for impact, to ensure that improvement measures are really working.

PwC Deutschland

PwC Deutschland’s Customs, Excise and International Trade practice advises national and international companies across the full breadth of customs, excise and foreign trade law, from tariff classification and customs procedures to export control and sanctions compliance. The practice is led by Dr. jur. Michael Tervooren, Partner and Rechtsanwalt, who joined PwC in 2003. He is also responsible for customs IT and SAP GTS across Germany, leads PwC’s export control team in Europe and sits on the firm’s EMEA Customs Core Team.

SEIA’s cooperation is led by Marko Sedlarevic. He is a Senior Manager in the Customs, Excise & International Trade practice of PwC Germany responsible for the practice’s Munich office. One of Markos’ personal focus areas is the review and optimization of organizations and processes, helping client’s building a robust Internal Compliance Program/Compliance Management System for customs & export control purposes. In this regard, he sees SEIA as a great opportunity to support clients with Compliance Program Assurance, risk management, and support for Reviews/Health Checks. "With SEIA, I see huge potential in how we support our clients. With decisions being  not only data-driven but put into a customs & trade compliance context, we can provide even more value to our clients navigating the customs & trade compliance landscape."

What the cooperation brings

While most companies already have processes and controls in place, the decisive question is whether those controls work as intended in daily operations. Risk tends to arise where data, processes and expert judgement meet: data that is incomplete or spread across systems, processes documented one way and practised another, and findings that still need to be correctly interpreted.

SEIA PERCEIVE works with a company's existing data and IT infrastructure. It connects data points, places them in relation to one another and applies trade compliance risk indicators across all relevant business data. ERP data can be complemented by many other sources, from PDF reports to Excel files, for hollisitc oversight of business and a look into traditional blind spots.

PwC adds the expert assessment. The practice reviews the findings, examines the organisational and process questions behind them, and helps derive concrete measures. In Tervooren's words, companies receive not merely a list of irregularities but a structured approach to addressing compliance risks, data gaps and process weaknesses. Because the analysis rests on a detailed view of the data, risks can be addressed with considerably less initial cost and effort by the client, which matters to many companies at a time of sustained pressure on budgets.

In customs, remediation may cover tariff classification, customs valuation, origin and preferences, due diligence, process optimisation or support with disclosures. In export control, it may include classification, sanctions circumvention, business partner due diligence, process optimisation and disclosure support.

New transactions, data, regulatory requirements and operational changes arrive continuously. A first review becomes the starting point for continuous improvement, and successful remediation becomes visible in the SEIA results over time.
